Cloisonne, or "Jing Tai Lan" as known to the Chinese, was popular in the Jing Tai Period (1450~1457 AD.) of the Ming Dynasty, hence its name "Jing Tai Lan" being description of the fine craftsmanship and dazzling glaze. Each article requires 37 processes such as base-making, copper-writing, enamel-filling and soldering, etc. It is a peculiarity of Beijing's traditional arts and crafts.
